This is a cordless blower kit designed for jobsite, shop and yard cleanup, with everything needed to start working out of the box.

The Makita XBU03Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Blower is a handheld cordless blower built for cleanup work around jobsites, garages, driveways, sidewalks, and landscaped areas. This is a cordless handheld blower designed for clean-up applications. Model Number: XBU03Z. If you already run Makita 18V LXT batteries, this bare tool gives you a straightforward way to add fast, low-maintenance blowing power without dealing with fuel, pull starts, or extra engine upkeep.

What makes this blower matter is the balance between output and control. Makita rates it at up to 459 CFM and 116 MPH, which is enough airflow for clearing dry debris, grass clippings, sawdust, and general property mess without jumping to a heavier backpack-style unit. The variable speed trigger gives you quick response for detail work, while the cruise control lever lets you set output anywhere from 0 to 100 percent so you are not pinned at full power when the job does not need it.

The brushless motor is a big part of why this tool makes sense. Makita's BL Brushless Motor runs cooler and more efficiently than comparable non-brushless designs, which helps extend motor life and makes better use of battery power. On the job, that means more useful work per charge and less heat buildup during repeated cleanup passes. If you already know the frustration of a cordless blower that feels weak or burns through packs too fast, this is the part of the spec sheet worth paying attention to.

Makita also got the layout right. The in-line fan design helps the tool feel more balanced in the hand, and that matters more than people think with a blower. A nose-heavy blower wears you out fast. This one is built to stay easier to manage during one-handed use, whether you are walking fence lines, blowing off a trailer, cleaning out a garage bay, or working around shrubs and flower beds. The rubberized soft grip adds a little more comfort when you are using it for several short cleanup sessions back to back.

Jobsite practicality is solid here too. The speed lock is useful when you want continuous operation without constantly holding the trigger at the same position. The housing also includes a hanging hole for storage, which is simple but useful if you keep outdoor tools on wall hooks in a garage or trailer. Makita rates the sound pressure at 60 dB(A) per ANSI B175.2, which helps explain why this model appeals to users moving away from gas for routine cleanup around homes, commercial properties, and occupied work areas.

For tougher environments, the XBU03Z includes Extreme Protection Technology, or XPT, which uses internal seals designed to improve resistance to dust and water in harsh conditions. It is also equipped with Star Protection Computer Controls, which allows the tool and battery to communicate and monitor for overload, over-discharge, and overheating. Those protection features matter if you are using the blower as part of regular property maintenance or construction cleanup instead of just occasional homeowner use.

Battery compatibility is another reason this tool is easy to justify. It runs on one Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery, sold separately, and it is part of Makita's broader 18V LXT platform. That is a big deal if you already own Makita drills, impact drivers, saws, or outdoor power equipment. One battery system means fewer chargers, fewer dead-end tools, and less clutter in the truck or shop. Makita also states that the tool can be powered by 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star symbol indicating Star Protection inside.

Who should buy it? This blower makes the most sense for contractors, maintenance crews, landscapers doing light to medium cleanup, and serious homeowners who want a cordless leaf blower that is easier to grab than a gas unit. It is especially strong for quick daily cleanup, not all-day acreage work. If your priority is a compact Makita blower with real output, better ergonomics, and access to the 18V LXT battery platform, this one lands in a very practical sweet spot.

Makita BL1850BDC2X1 18V LXT Battery and Rapid Optimum Charger Starter Pack

The Makita BL1850BDC2X1 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Battery and Rapid Optimum Charger Starter Pack is a battery and charger kit for powering Makita 18V LXT cordless tools. This is a battery starter pack designed for anyone buying bare tools who needs a dependable power supply, and it includes two BL1850B 18V LXT 5.0Ah lithium-ion batteries and one DC18RC Rapid Optimum Charger.

Two 5.0Ah batteries are the practical setup for real work. With the DC18RC charging a 5.0Ah pack in 45 minutes or less, you can run one battery while the second charges and rarely stop for power. Each BL1850B provides up to 65% more run time per charge than the BL1830 3.0Ah battery, and weighs 1.4 pounds.

The BL1850B uses Star Protection Computer Controls to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. An integrated LED charge level indicator reads out remaining charge. The impact-resistant outer case has a shock-absorbing inner liner, and sixteen contact terminals help maintain a solid connection under vibration. Low self-discharge means a pack is ready to use even after sitting in storage, and the batteries are rated to deliver consistent power in cold weather down to -4 degrees Fahrenheit.

The DC18RC Rapid Optimum Charger has a built-in communication system that reads the battery's chip and actively controls current, voltage and temperature during charging. A built-in fan circulates air through the battery as it charges to cool it for faster charge times.

These batteries fit Makita 18V LXT tools with the Star symbol or a yellow battery receiver. Makita's 18V LXT system is one of the largest cordless lines built on an 18V slide-style lithium-ion battery, covering drills, impact drivers, saws, grinders, outdoor tools and more.

Buy this pack if you are starting on Makita 18V LXT with bare tools, or if your current packs are worn out and you want a fresh pair of 5.0Ah batteries plus a rapid charger in one purchase.

</details><details id="product-whats-included" class="acc" open>

What's in the Box

(1) Makita XBU03Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Blower

(2) 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah Batteries (BL1850B)

(1) 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Rapid Optimum Charger (DC18RC)

Includes (2) 5.0Ah batteries and (1) rapid charger from the BL1850BDC2X1 starter pack.

</details><details id="product-key-specifications" class="acc" open>

Key Specifications

XBU03Z

Blower Type

Handheld

Voltage (V)

18V

Motor Type

Brushless

Max.
