DeWALT Metalworking Tools: Shears, Nibblers, and Rod Cutters

DeWALT metalworking tools cut and fasten sheet metal, threaded rod, and fiber cement. The collection includes 20V MAX swivel head shears in 18 gauge and 14 gauge, an offset shear, and corded DW890 and DW891 shears. It also has 14 and 16 gauge nibblers, the DCF403 20V MAX rivet tool, the DCS350 threaded rod cutter with dies, a DCS373 metal cutting circular saw kit, fiber cement shears, a drill-powered shear attachment, and the DCW100K portable stick and TIG welder.

What to Look For

  • Material gauge. Match the shear or nibbler rating to the thickest sheet you cut. 14 gauge tools handle heavier stock than 18 gauge tools.
  • Shear or nibbler. Shears leave a clean edge on straight and curved cuts. Nibblers punch through corrugated and profiled panels.
  • Threaded rod size. The DCS350 uses separate dies for 1/4 in., 3/8 in., and 1/2 in. rod. Buy the die for each size you install.
  • Siding work. The DCS498 and D28605 fiber cement shears cut siding with little dust compared with a saw.

DeWALT Metalworking Tools FAQ

Why use a threaded rod cutter instead of a saw?

The DCS350 shears rod with dies, so it leaves a clean end that threads a nut without filing. There are no sparks or blades to change, which helps when cutting overhead for strut and hangers.

What warranty does DeWALT offer on metalworking tools?

DeWALT power tools with its standard warranty carry a 3-year limited warranty, a 1-year free service contract, and a 90-day money-back guarantee. Replacement blades and dies are accessories and are excluded. Terms follow the warranty stated on each product.
