What to Look For
- Router model. DNP parts fit compact routers; DW618x bases fit DW616 and DW618 motors.
- Base type. A plunge base starts cuts mid-board; a D-handle base gives a firm grip for edge work.
- Accuracy aids. Edge guides run parallel to an edge; centering cones line up sub bases with the bit.

Can I add a plunge base to my DeWALT router?
Yes, if it matches the motor. The DNP612 is the plunge base for compact routers, and the DW6182 is the plunge base for DW616 and DW618 routers.
Why use a different sub base?
A round sub base keeps the bit the same distance from a guide at any angle. A D-shaped base has a flat side for running against a straightedge.
