Makita Jigsaw Blades & Accessories
Makita Jigsaw Blades by Shank, Material, and TPI
Makita jigsaw blades come in two shank styles. Most here are T-shank blades, which fit Makita jigsaws and most current jigsaws from other brands. A few are Makita-shank blades for older Makita saws. Blades are sold in high carbon steel (HCS) for wood and plastics and high speed steel (HSS) for metal, in lengths from 3" to 7-1/8" and tooth counts from 6 TPI to 32 TPI, mostly in 5-packs.
What to Look For
- Shank. Check your saw. T-shank is the common standard. Makita-shank fits specific older models.
- Material. HCS for wood, plywood, and plastic. HSS for sheet metal and non-ferrous metals.
- Tooth count. 6 to 9 TPI cuts fast in thick wood. 14 to 32 TPI cuts cleaner and suits metal.
- Length. Longer blades cut thicker stock. Shorter blades track tighter curves.

Makita Jigsaw Blades & Accessories FAQ
Will Makita T-shank blades fit my other jigsaw?
T-shank is the standard used by most current jigsaws, so Makita T-shank blades fit most saws that take T-shank. Makita-shank blades only fit Makita saws designed for that shank.
What TPI should I use for plywood?
For clean cuts in plywood and laminate, use a higher tooth count HCS blade, around 12 to 18 TPI. Use 6 to 9 TPI for fast rough cuts in framing lumber.
