Makita Metalworking Tools

Makita Metal Cutting Saws, Shears, and Nibblers

Makita metalworking tools cut steel, sheet metal, and fiber cement with fewer sparks than an abrasive wheel. Metal cutting saws include the 18V LXT 5-3/8" XSC01 and XSC03, the brushless 5-7/8" XSC02 and XSC04, the corded 7-1/4" 4131, and the 12" LC1230. For sheet metal there are 18V LXT straight shears in 18, 16, and 14 gauge (XSJ01, XSJ02, XSJ03), nibblers like the XNJ01 and JN3201, and the PC01 12V max CXT multi-cutter. The XSJ05Z and JS8000 cut fiber cement siding.

What to Look For

  • Material thickness. Match the gauge rating of shears and nibblers to your sheet metal.
  • Shear or nibbler. Shears cut fast straight lines. Nibblers turn tight curves and leave a flat edge.
  • Saw size. 5-3/8" and 5-7/8" saws cut strut and conduit. The 12" LC1230 cuts larger stock.
  • Electric brake. The XSC04 stops the blade quickly after release.

Makita Metalworking Tools FAQ

Why use a metal cutting saw instead of a grinder?

A metal cutting saw uses a toothed blade, so it cuts with fewer sparks, less heat, and cleaner edges than an abrasive cut-off wheel. It is the faster choice for strut, conduit, and steel studs.

What warranty covers Makita metalworking tools?

Cordless lithium-ion models carry Makita's 3-year limited warranty for cordless tools, batteries and chargers. Corded shears, nibblers, and saws carry the 1-year limited warranty for most other Makita products. Blades are excluded.
