Makita Nailers

Makita Nailers: Cordless LXT and Pneumatic

Makita nailers come in two families. Cordless 18V LXT models skip the hose and compressor: the XNB01Z and brushless XNB04Z 18 gauge brad nailers, the XNB02Z straight and XNB06Z angled 16 gauge finish nailers, the XNB08Z 15 gauge angled finisher, the XTP02Z 23 gauge pin nailer, and the XNB03Z 21-degree framing nailer. Pneumatic options include the AF353 pin nailer, AN924 framer, and AT638A narrow crown stapler. This collection also carries Makita compressors and cordless inflators.

What to Look For

  • Gauge. 23 gauge pins leave almost no hole, 18 gauge brads hold light trim, and 15 or 16 gauge finish nails hold base and casing.
  • Straight or angled. Angled finish nailers reach into corners and crown more easily.
  • Collation angle. Framing nailers take 21-degree full round head or 30-degree clipped head strips. Buy nails to match.
  • Cordless or air. Pneumatic tools are lighter in hand. Cordless tools set up faster for punch lists.

Makita Nailers FAQ

Which Makita nailer should I buy for interior trim?

Start with an 18 gauge brad nailer such as the XNB01Z or XNB04Z for small trim and a 16 gauge finish nailer such as the XNB02Z for baseboard and door casing. Add the XTP02Z pin nailer for delicate moulding that you do not want to split.

What warranty covers Makita nailers?

Makita's 3-year limited warranty covers its lithium-ion cordless tools and also its pneumatic nailers. Batteries and chargers get the same 3 years. Corded compressors fall under the 1-year limited warranty for most other Makita products.
