Nut Screwdrivers

Nut Screwdrivers and Multi-Bit Screw / Nut Drivers

Nut screwdrivers combine screwdriver bits and hex nut sockets in one handle, so a single tool handles slotted screws, Phillips screws, and hex-head fasteners. Klein Tools makes most of this collection, from the 11-in-1 32500 family (standard, magnetic, impact rated, and ratcheting) to the 14-in-1 precision driver, 10-in-1 and 10 Fold drivers, and HVAC drivers with Schrader bits. Milwaukee adds the SHOCKWAVE Multi-Nut Driver. Single-size Klein 635 heavy-duty drivers, Wiha insulated sets, and power nut setters round it out.

What to Look For

  • Bit and nut count. Count the hex sizes, not just the total. An 11-in-1 usually carries several nut sizes plus Phillips, slotted, and square tips.
  • Trade-specific tips. HVAC versions like the Klein 32527 and 32596 carry Schrader valve core bits.
  • Impact rating. The 32500HD and 32527HD tolerate hammering and twisting loads that a standard driver may not.
  • Hand or drill. Nut setters such as the Wiha 70489 and Klein 65411PK3 fit a drill or impact driver for repetitive work.

Nut Screwdrivers FAQ

Multi-bit driver or a set of fixed nut drivers?

A multi-bit driver saves pocket space and covers the common sizes. Fixed drivers, like the Klein 635 heavy-duty line or a Wiha set, have hollow shafts that clear long bolts and are faster when you use one size all day.

What is a ratcheting nut driver good for?

A ratchet lets you turn without regripping the handle. The Klein 32500HDRT and the 41-piece Proto dual ratcheting driver suit long runs of panel screws and fasteners in tight cabinets.
