Stanley Hand Tools, Tape Measures, and Shop Storage

The Stanley collection is a broad hand tool lineup for carpenters, mechanics, and home shops. Top sellers include Rotator ratchets in 1/4 and 3/8-inch drive, FATMAX twin blade and Swivel-Lock utility knives, PowerLock and FATMAX tape rules, and hand planes such as the No. 62 low angle jack and No. 60-1/2 block plane. You will also find Sweetheart socket chisels, FATMAX chisels and molding bars, 2 x 4 clamps, heavy duty and cable staples, and storage from tote trays to SORTMASTER organizers.

What to Look For

  • Tape blade. FATMAX tapes use a wide 1-1/4 inch blade for long standout. PowerLock pocket tapes are smaller.
  • Plane type. A block plane trims end grain and chamfers. A jack plane flattens and straightens longer boards.
  • Staple size. TRA staples come in 1/4 to 9/16-inch lengths. Match the leg length and series to your stapler.
  • Knife style. Twin blade knives carry two blades ready to use. Fixed blade knives suit heavy cutting.

Stanley FAQ

What warranty covers Stanley hand tools and tapes?

STANLEY mechanics tools carry a full lifetime warranty with no proof of purchase required; call Stanley rather than returning them to the store. Hand tools and tape measures carry a limited lifetime warranty for as long as the original purchaser owns them, excluding excessive wear, misuse, and consumables such as blades and bits. Those terms do not apply to Stanley storage.

Which Stanley plane should I start with?

Start with a low angle block plane like the No. 60-1/2 or the Bailey low angle block plane for trimming, end grain, and fitting. Add the No. 62 low angle jack plane when you need to flatten wider or longer stock. Pair it with chisels for joinery and paring.
