14" Saw Blades
Choosing 14-Inch Saw Blades and Cutting Wheels
14-inch blades fit chop saws, cut-off saws, and large panel saws, and most of this collection cuts metal or masonry rather than wood. You will find DeWALT abrasive wheels for metal and steel studs, diamond blades for concrete from Husqvarna, Diablo, Bosch, and Milwaukee, and carbide or cermet metal blades from Bosch and Diablo. Freud adds 14-inch panel sizing and composite blades for wood shops.
What to Look For
- Abrasive vs. carbide for metal. Abrasive wheels like the DeWALT DW8001 are low cost per wheel but wear down. Toothed blades such as the Bosch PRO1480ST and Diablo D1490CF cut cooler with less sparking.
- Diamond segment style. Segmented rims like the Milwaukee 49-93-7040 clear debris for rough concrete cuts. Turbo segments like the Diablo DMADST1400 cut faster and smoother.
- Wet or dry. Check the blade's rating before you cut. The Husqvarna Vari-Cut S45 is listed for wet or dry use.
- Saw match. Confirm the arbor size and the saw's maximum RPM against the blade before mounting it.

14" Saw Blades FAQ
Can I put a diamond blade on a metal chop saw?
Only if the blade and saw are rated for each other. Chop saws built for abrasive wheels run at a set RPM and arbor size. Diamond blades here are made for concrete and masonry, usually on cut-off saws. Use a metal-rated wheel or blade on a chop saw cutting steel.
Which 14-inch blade cuts steel studs?
The DeWALT DW8003 is sold as a stud cutting wheel. For thin sheet metal and light gauge steel, the Diablo D1490CF Steel Demon Cermet blade is built for thin metal. For thicker ferrous stock, look at the Bosch PRO1480ST 80-tooth blade.
