Band saws in this collection split into two groups. Stationary saws handle resawing and curves in the shop: 14-inch saws from Rikon, Jet, Powermatic, and Laguna, the Powermatic PM1500, a Rikon 10-inch, and a SKIL 9-inch benchtop saw.
What to Look For
- Cut capacity. Deep cut saws like the Milwaukee 2729-20 and DeWALT DCS374B handle larger pipe. Compact and sub-compact saws work one-handed overhead.
- Platform. Choose the battery system you already run, or a corded model for all-day shop cutting.
- Stationary resaw height. A taller resaw capacity lets you slice wide boards into veneers and bookmatched panels.
- Motor and power. The Powermatic PM1500 lists 3HP at 230V. Check your circuit before buying a large saw.

Pick a compact saw like the Milwaukee 2829-20 or M12 FUEL 2529-20 for strut, conduit, and rod, especially overhead. Pick a deep cut saw for larger pipe and bundled material. The Milwaukee 2729S-20 adds a dual trigger.
What size stationary band saw suits a home shop?
A 14-inch saw like the Rikon 10-326 or Jet JWBS-14DXPRO handles most curve cutting and moderate resawing. A 10-inch saw like the Rikon 10-305 saves space for smaller work.
