Combination Wrenches
Combination Wrench Sets: Standard and Ratcheting
Combination wrenches put an open end and a box end of the same size on one tool, which makes them the everyday wrench in most kits. Milwaukee leads this collection with 7- and 15-piece SAE and metric sets, flex head and ratcheting sets, and 15- and 30-piece sets with PACKOUT organizers or trays. DeWALT offers full polish sets from 10 to 18 pieces and an 8-piece ratcheting set. Wiha adds 12-piece inch and metric sets and a 31-piece set, and Klein offers 90-tooth ratcheting sets.
What to Look For
- Standard or ratcheting. Ratcheting box ends keep turning without lifting off the fastener. Standard wrenches take the most torque.
- Flex head. A pivoting head reaches fasteners at awkward angles.
- SAE, metric, or both. Mixed sets like the 30-piece Milwaukee and 31-piece Wiha cover both systems.
- Storage. PACKOUT organizers and trays keep every size in place and show what is missing.

Combination Wrenches FAQ
Why does tooth count matter on a ratcheting wrench?
More teeth means a smaller swing arc before the ratchet catches. The Klein 90-tooth sets need very little room to turn, which helps in tight engine bays and equipment cabinets.
Should I buy SAE or metric first?
Buy what matches your work. Most equipment and vehicles use metric fasteners, while older domestic equipment and many building fasteners are SAE. A combined set covers both if you are unsure.
