Cordless Grinders
Cordless Angle Grinders and Die Grinders
Cordless grinders cut, grind, and finish metal, masonry, and welds without a cord to drag. Milwaukee M18 FUEL dominates the angle grinders here, with 4-1/2" / 5" paddle and slide switch models, braking variable speed versions, a 4-1/2" - 6" grinder, and a 7" / 9" large grinder. Makita 18V LXT grinders include electric brake models and the XAG26 X-LOCK with AFT. DeWALT adds 20V MAX grinders with kickback brake, and Festool the AGC 18-115. For detail work, choose M12 FUEL right angle and straight die grinders or the DeWALT ATOMIC die grinder.
What to Look For
- Switch type. Paddle switches stop when released. Slide lock-on switches suit long grinding passes.
- Brake. Electric and kickback brakes stop the wheel quickly after release or a bind.
- Wheel size. 4-1/2" and 5" handle most work. 7" / 9" grinders cut and grind larger stock.
- Grinder style. Die grinders run small bits for porting, deburring, and tight spots.

Cordless Grinders FAQ
Paddle switch or slide switch?
A no-lock paddle switch shuts off as soon as you let go, which many jobsites require. A lock-on slide switch is more comfortable for long grinding runs. Milwaukee and Makita offer both styles here.
What is X-LOCK?
X-LOCK is a tool-free wheel change system. X-LOCK wheels snap on and release with a lever, with no flange nut or wrench. The Makita XAG26 in this collection uses it.
