DeWALT Rotary Hammers
DeWALT SDS PLUS and SDS MAX Rotary Hammers
DeWALT rotary hammers drill and chip concrete, block, and brick. SDS PLUS models handle anchor holes and light chiseling: the XTREME 12V MAX DCH072, the ATOMIC 20V MAX DCH172, the DCH273 and DCH133 1-inch hammers, the DCH263 D-handle and DCH293 L-shape 1-1/8 inch XR models, and the DCH416 60V MAX. For larger holes and demolition, SDS MAX options include the DCH775 60V MAX 2-inch combination hammer and corded combination hammers from 1-9/16 to 1-3/4 inch. Some kits add a dust extractor.
What to Look For
- Bit system. SDS PLUS for smaller holes and anchors; SDS MAX for large holes, coring, and heavy chipping.
- Handle style. D-handle models are compact; L-shape models put more weight behind the bit.
- Dust control. Kits with an attached extractor capture dust at the bit.
- Power source. 12V and ATOMIC suit overhead anchors; 60V MAX and corded hammers handle sustained work.
