Collection: Drills / Drivers

Drill drivers, impact drivers, impact wrenches, and drill presses are essential tools for drilling and fastening in construction, woodworking, and automotive work. Designed for power and precision, these tools handle everything from light-duty tasks to heavy-duty applications. With options from leading brands like DeWALT, Milwaukee, Makita, and Festool, you can count on reliable performance, versatility, and durability across all your drilling needs.

Cordless Drills, Impact Drivers, and Impact Wrenches

This Drills / Drivers collection covers every tool that bores holes or drives fasteners. Start with drill drivers for general work, add impact drivers for long screws and lag bolts, and step up to rotary hammers for concrete. Brands include Milwaukee M12 and M18, DeWALT 20V MAX, Makita 18V LXT, Festool, and Fein.

Drill Drivers

Drill drivers handle holes and screws with an adjustable clutch. Options range from the Festool CXS 12 and Milwaukee M12 FUEL Installation 5-in-1 with swappable heads to the Fein ASCM 18V QX 4-speed. See cordless drills for more.

Impact Drivers

Impact drivers add rotational blows for long fasteners. Choose standard models like the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 1/4-inch hex, or hydraulic models like Milwaukee SURGE and the DeWALT Quiet Hydraulic for lower noise. For drywall and decking, see screwguns.

Impact Wrenches

Impact wrenches run sockets for automotive and heavy equipment work. Drive sizes run from 3/8-inch stubby and right angle models to 1/2-inch mid-torque, 3/4-inch high torque, and 1-inch D-handle wrenches.

Hammer Drills and Rotary Hammers

Hammer drills, like the Makita 18V LXT 1/2-inch hammer driver-drill and Festool QUADRIVE TPC 18/4, handle occasional masonry holes. For frequent concrete drilling and chipping, choose rotary hammers.

Combo Kits

Cordless combo kits pair two or more tools with batteries and a charger, often a drill and impact driver. Examples include the Festool TPC 18/4 and TID 18 set. Browse all combo kits by brand.

Drill Presses and Right Angle Drills

Drill presses give square, repeatable holes at the bench. Magnetic drill presses clamp to steel for structural work, and right angle drills fit between studs and joists.

Drills / Drivers FAQ

Drill driver or impact driver: which do I need?

Most people want both. A drill driver has a chuck and clutch for drilling and controlled screw driving. An impact driver takes 1/4-inch hex bits and drives long screws and lags with less effort. That pairing is why most combo kits include one of each.

What is a hydraulic impact driver?

Hydraulic impact drivers, such as Milwaukee SURGE and the DeWALT Quiet Hydraulic, use a fluid-filled drive instead of a metal hammer and anvil. They run noticeably quieter with smoother fastening. Standard impact drivers suit the heaviest fastening.

Hammer drill or rotary hammer?

A hammer drill uses a standard chuck and suits a few anchor holes in block or brick. A rotary hammer uses an SDS bit and a piston mechanism for faster drilling in concrete, and many can also chip. Choose by how often you drill masonry.

What do friction ring and hog ring mean on an impact wrench?

Both describe a spring ring on the anvil that holds sockets by tension, so you can change sockets by hand. Milwaukee calls it a friction ring and DeWALT calls it a hog ring. Shop impact wrenches by drive size and anvil type.
