Edgeband Trimming
Edgeband Trimming Tools
After edge banding is glued on, the overhang must be trimmed flush to the panel faces and ends. This small collection covers two approaches. Festool offers an edge banding trimmer for the Conturo and the KB-KA 65 SYS trimming set, which trims banding applied with the Conturo KA 65. Maksiwa RBB.4G automatic and RBB.1000 edge trimmers are 110V single-phase machines for shops that band panels in volume.
What to Look For
- Volume. Hand trimmers suit small runs and site work. Powered Maksiwa trimmers suit production.
- Edge bander. The Festool trimming set is made to pair with the Conturo KA 65.
- Power. Maksiwa trimmers run on standard 110V single-phase power.

Edgeband Trimming FAQ
Do I need a separate trimmer after the Conturo?
Yes. The Conturo applies and glues the banding, and trimming is a separate step. Use the Festool trimmer or trimming set for flush faces, or an edge router like the MFK 700 for heavier banding.
Automatic or manual edge trimming?
Manual trimmers cost less and handle a few panels at a time. An automatic trimmer like the Maksiwa RBB.4G suits shops that band many panels a day.
