If you already own M12, M18, 20V MAX, or LXT batteries, a tool-only light is the lowest-cost add. USB rechargeable lights like Milwaukee headlamps and flashlights charge from a phone charger and suit anyone without a tool platform.
How many lumens do I need?
A few hundred lumens suits a headlamp or penlight for close work. Flood lights in the 700 to 1,500 lumen range light a work area. Tower lights from 1,400 to 6,000 lumens light a full room or site.
What light is best for paint and detailing?
Use a color match light such as the Milwaukee M12 paint and detailing light to judge color. To find scratches, use a raking light such as the Festool STL 450 or a Dutton sander light.
