Makita Drill Drivers

Makita Drill Drivers: Compact, Hammer, and Right Angle

Makita drill drivers handle pilot holes, hole saws, and screw driving. The core of this collection is the 18V LXT XFD line, from the compact XFD12 and sub-compact XFD15ZB to the XFD13, XFD14, and XFD16. Hammer driver-drills like the XPH12Z and XPH16Z add masonry drilling. Right angle drills (XAD01Z through XAD06Z) fit between joists. Other platforms include the 12V max CXT FD07R1, the 40V max XGT GFD02Z, and the corded 6302H.

What to Look For

  • Size. Sub-compact and compact models save weight for overhead and cabinet work.
  • Hammer mode. Choose a hammer driver-drill if you drill brick, block, or concrete.
  • Right angle. XAD models drill through studs and joists where a pistol drill will not fit.
  • Chuck size. Most models take 1/2" bits. The FD07R1 and XAD02Z use 3/8".

The Tool Nut is an authorized Makita dealer, in business since 1994, offering free shipping on most orders and rewards points on every drill.

Makita Drill Drivers FAQ

Do I need a drill driver or a hammer driver-drill?

A drill driver covers wood, metal, and screw driving. A hammer driver-drill adds a hammer mode for occasional masonry holes, at a bit more length and weight. For frequent concrete work, a rotary hammer is the better tool.

What warranty covers Makita cordless drills?

Makita's lithium-ion cordless tools, batteries and chargers carry a 3-year limited warranty. Corded drills fall under the 1-year limited warranty for most other Makita products. Makita also offers a 30-day return guarantee on Makita products, excluding accessories and wear items.
