Pneumatic Breaker / Paving Hammers
Breaker and Paving Hammers
Breaker and paving hammers break up slab, sidewalk, and pavement with heavy blows from above. Every hammer in this collection is an electric breaker rather than an air tool: the Makita HM1810X3, HM1812, and HM1812X3 70 lb AVT breakers, the Metabo HPT H90SGM 70 lb breaker, and the Bosch Brute BH2760VC, sold alone or with a basic cart. All of the Makita and Metabo HPT units accept 1-1/8-inch hex bits.
What to Look For
- Power source. Electric breakers need only a generator or outlet. Air breakers need a tow-behind compressor.
- Vibration control. Makita AVT models reduce vibration for longer runs.
- Transport. A cart, like the one in the Bosch BH2760VCB kit, moves a heavy breaker between spots.

Breaker / Paving Hammers FAQ
Electric breaker or air breaker?
An electric breaker sets up fast and runs anywhere you have power, which suits remodels and small crews. Air breakers suit road and utility crews that already run a large compressor on site.
