Torq-Set Driver Bits
Torq-Set Driver Bits for Aerospace and Equipment Fasteners
Torq-Set is an offset four-wing drive found on aircraft, military equipment, and some automotive and appliance parts. A Phillips or cross bit will not seat in it. This collection is almost all Wera, with 871/1 bits at 25 mm, an 871/2 5/16-inch bit at 32 mm, and 871/4 power bits at 50, 70, and 89 mm. Sizes run from 2 through 10 plus 1/4-inch and 5/16-inch, with Mplus tip geometry and Dc variants. Wiha adds a 71906 #6 x 25 mm insert bit 10-pack.
What to Look For
- Size match. Torq-Set sizes are not interchangeable. Read the size on the fastener or the service manual.
- Length. 25 mm insert bits fit bit holders. 50 to 89 mm power bits reach recessed fasteners.
- Shank. Most bits here use a 1/4-inch hex shank. The 871/2 uses a 5/16-inch shank.

Torq-Set Driver Bits FAQ
How is Torq-Set different from a Phillips drive?
Torq-Set wings are offset from center, which lets the bit transmit more torque without camming out. The recess looks like a cross but needs a matching Torq-Set bit.
Which length should I buy?
Buy 25 mm inserts for a bit holder or handle. Choose 50 mm and longer power bits for drills and drivers, or to reach fasteners set deep in a panel.
