FastCap Screw Wax (Model Number: SCREW WAX) is a fastener lubricant for driving screws into wood. This is a screw lubricant designed for cabinet installation, woodworking and general fastening, where it makes screwing into wood quieter, easier and faster.

Dip or swipe the screw threads through the wax before driving. The lubricated threads need less torque to turn, which helps in dense hardwoods and long screws where friction would otherwise bog down the driver or strip the head.

It is not limited to screws. FastCap lists it for threading bolts, quieting squeaky hinge pins and squeaky wheels, and as a drill bit lubricant. The container is 2-1/2 inches in diameter and 7/8 inch high and weighs 1.6 ounces, so it rides along in a shop drawer, toolbox or tool pouch.

Contractors, cabinet makers and woodworkers who drive a lot of screws by hand or with a driver will get the most out of it.

Cheap Insurance Against Stripped Screws

FastCap Screw Wax is one of those few-dollar shop items that pays for itself the first time a long screw in hardwood drives clean instead of snapping or camming out.

• Who it's for: Cabinet installers, woodworkers and contractors driving screws into wood.
• Why it stands out: Less torque, less noise and faster driving from a pocket-size tin.
• Worth knowing: It is a lubricant, not a pilot hole. Dense hardwoods still need proper predrilling.
