FastCap Zero Clearance Tape (Model Number: ZERO CLEAR TAPE) is a self-adhesive PVC tape that creates a zero clearance throat on a miter saw. This is a miter saw accessory designed to prevent tear-out and blowout on the bottom edge of crosscuts and miters in trim, moulding and finish work.

Miter saws blow out fibers on the underside of a cut because the workpiece is unsupported over the open throat. A zero clearance plate fixes that, but most miter saws do not have one available. This tape gives you the same support: apply it across the throat, make a cut, and the blade cuts a slot that fits the kerf exactly.

Because the blade cuts the slot, the edge of the tape becomes an exact reference for where the blade will cut. Line your mark up with the slot edge and you know where the kerf lands before the blade comes down.
