Overview
The Festool 577014 TS 55 F Plunge Cut Track Saw with 55-in Guide Rail w/ Systainer3 is a corded track saw kit for cabinetmakers, finish carpenters, remodelers, and woodworkers who need straight, finish-quality cuts in sheet goods and solid wood. This is a plunge cut track saw designed for panel breakdown, door trimming, and precise straight and bevel cuts. Model Number 577014 (SKU 576708-491498) combines the Festool 576708 TS 55 F plunge cut track saw with the Festool 491498 FS 1400 55" guide rail.
A track saw replaces the table saw for the cuts that are hardest to make on one: full sheets of plywood, long rips on finished panels, and doors that need a hair trimmed off. Set the rail on your mark, plunge the saw, and push. The 1,200 W motor drives a 160 mm blade to a maximum depth of 2-3/16" (55 mm), or 1-15/16" (50 mm) when running on the rail, which covers 3/4" cabinet stock, doubled-up sheets, and most solid lumber in a single pass.
The FS 1400 rail is 55" (1,400 mm) long and handles guided cuts up to about 49" with a TS saw. That covers crosscuts on a 4 x 8 sheet, cabinet sides, shelving, and door trimming. Non-skid strips on the underside hold the rail in place on most surfaces without clamps, and the integrated splinter guard on the rail edge marks exactly where the blade will cut. Line the edge up with your pencil mark and you are done measuring offsets.
Bevel range runs from -1 to 47 degrees with presets at 0 and 45 degrees. The undercut to -1 degree helps when fitting panels against walls that are not quite square. Festool built the TS 55 so the splinter guard and the cutting edge stay in the same position through the full bevel range, which is what keeps beveled cuts landing on the line. Cutting depth at 45 degrees is 1-11/16" (43 mm) freehand or 1-7/16" (37 mm) on the rail. The kit ships with a 42-tooth fine-cut carbide blade for clean crosscuts and finish work, and other Festool saw blades in the 160 mm size handle rip cuts, laminate, aluminum, and abrasive materials.
The details that matter on the job are all here. A spring-loaded riving knife rides behind the blade to reduce binding and lets you drop the saw back into an existing kerf. A transparent sight window and start and end markings show where the blade enters and exits on plunge cuts, which is what you need for sink cutouts and stopped cuts. The flat housing lets you cut as close as 1/2" (12 mm) to a wall, useful for trimming flooring and fitting built-ins in place.
Dust control is a big part of why pros buy a Festool track saw. The dust port accepts 1-1/16" (27 mm) and 1-7/16" (36 mm) hoses, and the enclosed blade guard routes chips straight into the hose. Hooked up to one of the Festool dust extractors, you can break down sheet goods inside a finished kitchen without coating the room.
At 9.92 lbs (4.5 kg), the saw is light enough to carry up a ladder or work on a sheet laid across sawhorses. Everything except the rail packs into a Systainer3 SYS3 M 337, which stacks and locks onto other Festool Systainers for transport.
The rail is the start of a system, not the end of it. Two rails joined with Festool guide rail connectors give you a full 8 ft rip, and the same rails guide Festool routers and jigsaws with the right adapters. Buy the saw with the rail and you are cutting accurately on day one.
Who should buy it? Cabinet installers, finish carpenters, remodelers, flooring installers, and woodworkers who want table-saw accuracy in a tool that goes to the material. If you mostly cut framing lumber, a standard circular saw costs less. If clean edges on expensive sheet goods matter, this is the kit to start with.
Straight Cuts Without a Table Saw
Set the rail on the mark and push the saw. You get a straight, finish-ready edge on a full sheet without wrestling it across a table saw.
- 55" (1,400 mm) FS 1400 guide rail included
- Guided cuts up to about 49" long
Trim in Place, Tight to the Wall
The flat housing gets close to walls and cabinets, so you can trim flooring and fit panels where they sit instead of hauling them back to the saw.
- Cuts as close as 1/2" (12 mm) to a wall
- Sight window and start and end marks for plunge cuts
Clean Bevels on Finished Stock
Tilt the saw and the cut stays on the line. The splinter guard holds its position through the bevel range, so beveled edges come out as clean as square ones.
- Bevel range -1 to 47 degrees
- Presets at 0 and 45 degrees
Quick Blade Swaps
Match the blade to the material. The included 42-tooth blade handles finish cuts, and swapping to a rip, laminate, or aluminum blade takes about a minute.
- 160 mm blade size
- 42-tooth fine-cut carbide blade included

Pro Tip
On veneered plywood or melamine, make a shallow scoring pass first, then a second pass at full depth. The scoring pass cuts the face veneer cleanly so the full-depth pass can't lift chips on the top edge.

Tool Nut's Take
The Festool 577014 TS 55 F Plunge Cut Track Saw with 55-in Guide Rail Is the Standard Everyone Measures Against
This is the track saw most pros buy first, and the saw-plus-rail kit is the right way to buy it.
- Who it's for: Cabinet installers, finish carpenters, remodelers, and woodworkers cutting expensive sheet goods and finished panels.
- Why it stands out: Splinter-free edges on both sides, bevels that stay on the line, and a rail system that grows with you.
- Worth knowing: One 55" rail handles crosscuts and shorter rips. For full 8 ft rips you need a second rail and connectors, or a longer rail.
