The Jet JT9-IBG8-21 Wheel Guard is a genuine JET replacement part for the IBG series industrial bench grinders. This is a bench grinder wheel guard designed to enclose the grinding wheel and control sparks and debris on JET IBG-8, IBG-8VS, IBG-10 and IBG-12 grinders, plus the IBGB-248, IBGB-248VS, IBGB-436 and IBGB-436VS belt and grinder combination machines. JET's previous part number for it is IBG8-21.
The guard is the housing around the wheel. On an industrial grinder that runs all shift, it takes abuse: dropped workpieces, a wheel that lets go, or the machine getting knocked off a stand. When it is bent, cracked, or no longer seats positively on the grinder body, JET's direction is to replace it. Running a grinder with a damaged guard is how a wheel failure turns into an injury.
Because this is the OEM part, the mounting points line up with the grinder body as they did from the factory. That matters on a guard: an aftermarket or improvised guard that sits a little off can rub the wheel or leave a gap where it should not.
This part replaces the wheel guard only. The matching outer wheel cover is a separate part, the Jet JT9-IBG8-25, and grinding wheels, tool rests and eye shields are also sold separately.

Any time the guard or cover comes off, reset the tool rest to within 1/8" of the wheel and the upper spark guard to within 1/4" before you power up. Then spin the wheel by hand once to confirm nothing rubs before the motor ever sees it.
