Overview
The Klein Tools Welding Helmet Neck Guard (22051) covers the spot every welder eventually gets burned: the strip between the bottom of the helmet and the top of the jacket. This is a leather welding neck guard designed for welding and metal fabrication, protecting the neck, jawline and lower face from sparks, UV rays, ricochets and grinding debris.
The guard is flame-resistant split cowhide leather, and Klein lists it as compliant with ASTM F1506 Section 7.6. Seams are stitched with Kevlar thread and the edges are hemmed, which resists heat and flame and keeps the leather from tearing or curling through heavy welding, grinding and chipping.
Installation is tool-free. Slotted, barbed rubber mounts press firmly into the helmet slot to create a stable seal, and Klein designed them to fit Klein Tools welding helmets and most standard helmets.
The low-profile design fits beneath the helmet without bulk, so it does not interfere with flipping the helmet up and down. For anyone with a beard, it adds a protective layer that keeps sparks off facial hair while staying comfortable during long, hot welding sessions.
It measures about 17-1/2" x 5" (44.5 x 12.7 cm), weighs 4.8 oz (136 g), comes in black, and is one size fits most.
Who should buy it: welders and fabricators doing overhead or out-of-position work, anyone running a grinder with a welding helmet, and bearded welders who are tired of the smell of singed whiskers.
