Smart mode is the headline. Set the dial to Smart and the meter detects whether you are measuring voltage, current, resistance or continuity and switches on its own. That saves dial clicks during routine checks and helps prevent the classic mistake of probing voltage in the wrong mode. When you need a specific function, the rotary dial is still there.
