The Makita E-32649 6-Pc. Self-Feed Bit Set with MAKTRAK Compatible Case is a self-feed drill bit set designed for boring large holes through clean wood. It's built for plumbers, electricians and framers running pipe and wire through studs, joists and plates, and it ships in a low-profile case that connects to Makita's MAKTRAK modular storage system.
The set includes five self-feed bits (1", 1-1/8", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and 1-3/4") and a locking bit extension. Makita also includes an extra feed tip and hex key, so a damaged screw tip doesn't end the life of the bit.
Makita rates these bits at up to 50% faster than its standard self-feed bits. The speed comes from sharp double-edged cutting surfaces, squared trapezoid-shaped teeth and slots that reduce chip blockage, and an aggressive threaded tip that pulls the bit into the wood for smooth starts.
A teal non-stick coating reduces friction and keeps sap and pitch from building up on the bit body. The 7/16" hex shank allows quick changes in 7/16" chucks and extensions.
These bits are designed for clean wood. Nails, screws and other metal will damage the cutters and feed tip, so check framing for fasteners before you bore.
