The Makita XLC02ZW 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Compact Cordless Vacuum is a lightweight cordless vacuum built for fast dry cleanup on the job, in service work, and around finished spaces. This is a cordless vacuum designed for quick pickup of dust, small debris, and everyday messes without dragging out a larger machine. Model Number: XLC02ZW. As a tool-only setup, it is aimed at users already on the Makita 18V LXT platform who want a grab-and-go cleaning tool that is easy to keep close.

What matters most here is the balance of suction, size, and convenience. The motor delivers up to 46 CFM, which gives this compact stick vacuum enough airflow for fast cleanup in work areas, vehicles, finished rooms, and maintenance tasks. Makita lists up to 33 minutes of continuous runtime with a fully charged 18V 5.0Ah LXT battery, and the vacuum can also run on Makita 18V Compact Lithium-Ion batteries for a lighter setup. If you need to clean up sawdust, drywall dust, light debris, or general dry messes between steps of a job, that kind of runtime makes it practical instead of just occasional.

The design is straightforward in a good way. The vacuum measures roughly 18-3/4 inches in length in Makita's product copy and uses a compact, ergonomic body with a soft grip handle. That makes it comfortable for one-handed cleanup, especially when you are moving room to room or working in occupied spaces where a cord would just get in the way. The redesigned swivel floor nozzle and extension help it cover open floor areas more efficiently, while the crevice nozzle gives it the reach needed for corners, cabinets, trim areas, and other tight spots.

Makita also built this one around jobsite practicality. The bagless 2-stage cloth filtration system is there for easier cleaning and quicker debris disposal, so you spend less time dealing with bags and more time getting back to work. The improved filter uses locking tabs to stay in place, which is a small detail but an important one when a tool gets used often. With a 1.3 pint capacity, it is sized for regular touch-up and maintenance cleaning rather than bulk debris removal, which is exactly where a compact cordless vacuum earns its keep.

For users already invested in Makita cordless tools, battery compatibility is a big part of the value. The XLC02ZW accepts Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries and is designed to work with Star Protection-equipped batteries that communicate with the tool to help protect against overload, over-discharge, and overheating. That system matters if this vacuum is going to live in a van, on a cart, or alongside your other 18V LXT tools, because it keeps battery management simple and lets you use packs you may already own.

This Makita stick vacuum is a smart fit for finish carpenters, service techs, maintenance crews, installers, and janitorial users who need quick cleanup without a cord. It also makes sense for contractors who want a dedicated vacuum for punch-list work, final touch-ups, and protecting finished spaces. If you are expecting a large wet/dry vacuum replacement, this is not that tool. If you want a light, fast, everyday dry cleanup tool that is easy to grab and actually gets used, this one makes a lot of sense.
