Overview
The Metabo HPT NV1890DAQRY 18V Cordless Pneumatic 15-Degree Coil Framing Nailer (model NV1890DAQRY) is a battery-powered coil framing nailer that drives 1-3/4-in. to 3-1/2-in. wire-collated round head nails from 15-degree coils. This is a cordless coil framing nailer designed for framing, sheathing, and other high-volume nailing where reload time matters. Metabo HPT describes it as the first cordless coil framing nailer. It ships as a kit with an 18V/36V MultiVolt T-PWR Tabless battery and a quick charger.
The big story is capacity. A coil magazine holds 200 to 300 nails depending on nail size, compared with 68 to 91 nails in a strip framer. For crews running sheathing, subfloor, or long runs of plate nailing, that means far fewer stops to reload.
Like the rest of the line, it uses Metabo HPT's sealed air spring drive system powered by a brushless motor, so there is no hose, compressor, or fuel cell. Metabo HPT rates it at up to 5 nails per second and 120 joules of driving energy, with up to 1,000 nails per charge on the included 10.0Ah battery. The included UC18YSL3Q1Y quick charger refills that battery in approximately 75 minutes.
The coil layout keeps the tool short at 13-7/8 in. long, which helps between framing members, though it is the heaviest tool in the family at 8.8 lb without the battery. Tool-less depth adjustment, a bump and sequential mode switch on the control panel, a dry-fire lockout, an LED light, and both rafter and belt hooks are standard.
The NV1890DA uses its own coil magazine and is not interchangeable with the strip-nailer magazines in the Metabo HPT cordless pneumatic family. Field service parts are specific to the coil nailer as well: the Wearable Parts Kit for this model is 384015M, alongside the shared Maintenance Jig Kit (384003M) and Air Refill Valve (384002M).
This kit is best for framing crews and sheathing crews already using 15-degree wire coil framing nails, and for anyone who wants maximum nails between reloads without hauling a compressor.

Pro Tip
Order the 384015M Wearable Parts Kit for this nailer, not the 384005M. The coil nailer uses its own driver blade and bumper, and the strip-nailer kit will not fit.

Tool Nut's Take
Coil Capacity, Zero Hose
The Metabo HPT NV1890DAQRY brings a 200 to 300 nail coil to a battery-powered framer, which is the most nails between reloads in the family.
- Who it's for: Framing and sheathing crews who already run 15-degree wire coil nails and want to ditch the compressor.
- Why it stands out: Coil capacity, up to 1,000 nails per charge, and a short body for work between framing members.
- Worth knowing: At 8.8 lb without the battery it is the heaviest of the family, and its magazine and wear parts do not cross over to the strip nailers.

Common Questions
- Does this nailer need an air compressor, hose, or fuel cell? No. The air spring drive system is sealed inside the tool and is powered by the 18V battery, so there is no compressor, hose, or gas cartridge to buy or haul.
- How many nails will I get per charge? Metabo HPT rates it at up to 1,000 nails per charge on the included 10.0Ah MultiVolt T-PWR Tabless battery.
- How fast can it fire? Up to 5 nails per second, according to Metabo HPT.
- Can the air spring be serviced in the field? Yes. Metabo HPT designed the line for on-site maintenance, with an optional Air Refill Valve (384002M), Maintenance Jig Kit (384003M), and a Wearable Parts Kit for replacing the driver blade and bumper without sending the tool to a service center.
- What nails does it take? 15-degree wire-collated round head coil framing nails, 1-3/4 in. to 3-1/2 in. long and 0.099 in. to 0.131 in. in diameter.
