Overview
The Metabo HPT NR1890DRBQRY 18V Cordless Pneumatic 21-Degree Framing Nailer (model NR1890DRBQRY) is a battery-powered framing nailer that drives 2-in. to 3-1/2-in. full round head framing nails from 21-degree plastic strips. This is a cordless framing nailer designed for wall framing, floor systems, and roof framing where crews want air-nailer speed without a compressor, hose, or fuel cell. It ships as a kit with an 18V/36V MultiVolt T-PWR Tabless battery and a quick charger.
Instead of a motor-driven flywheel, the NR1890DRBQRY uses Metabo HPT's sealed air spring drive system. A brushless motor resets a piston against a charge of compressed air that lives inside the tool, so each shot has the snap of a pneumatic framer. Metabo HPT rates it at up to 6 nails per second in bump mode and 120 joules of driving energy, which is the kind of output that keeps up with a framing crew rather than slowing it down.
Runtime is where the 10.0Ah battery pays off. Metabo HPT rates the kit at up to 1,170 nails per charge, and the included UC18YSL3Q1Y quick charger brings that battery back in about 75 minutes. A dry-fire lockout stops the tool from firing on an empty magazine, which protects the driver and bumper and tells you it is time to reload instead of leaving you with a missed nail.
The tool weighs 7.9 lb without the battery and is built to feel like a pneumatic framer in the hand. Depth of drive is set with a tool-less adjuster, a switch on the control panel toggles between bump and sequential firing, and an LED lights up the nose for dim corners and attic work. A rafter hook and belt hook let you hang it from a joist or your belt between runs.
Maintenance is designed to happen on the jobsite. Metabo HPT sells a Wearable Parts Kit (384005M) with a replacement driver blade and bumper, a Maintenance Jig Kit (384003M) with the tools to swap them, and an Air Refill Valve (384002M) for topping up the air spring. Metabo HPT says routine service can be done in minutes rather than shipping the nailer out for repair.
The magazine is swappable with other Metabo HPT cordless pneumatic strip nailers. Optional 21-degree short and long magazines, 30-degree magazines, a metal connector magazine, and a duplex magazine are listed by Metabo HPT, so one tool body can be set up for different fasteners.
This kit is a strong fit for framing contractors, remodelers, deck and addition builders, and serious DIYers who already run 21-degree plastic-collated framing nails and are tired of hoses, compressor noise, and gas cartridges.
Framing Speed Without the Hose

No compressor to start, no hose to trip over, and no gas cartridge to swap. Pick it up and start nailing.
- Up to 6 nails per second in bump mode
- 120 joules of driving energy
- Brushless motor with sealed air spring drive
A Full Day of Nails on One Battery

The 10.0Ah MultiVolt T-PWR Tabless battery is sized for production framing, not a punch list.
- Up to 1,170 nails per charge
- Approximately 75-minute recharge on the included quick charger
- On-battery fuel gauge
Dial In Every Shot

Set it once for the material and stop guessing whether heads are proud or overdriven.
- Tool-less depth adjustment
- Bump and sequential fire modes switched from the control panel
- LED light for low-light framing
Built to Be Serviced on Site

Wear parts are replaceable in the field, so a worn bumper does not take the nailer out of rotation for weeks.
- Wearable Parts Kit 384005M fits this nailer
- Maintenance Jig Kit 384003M and Air Refill Valve 384002M available
- Dry-fire lockout reduces wear on the driver and bumper
