Overview
The Veto Pro Pac SP-MD BLACKOUT is an all-black, compact, closed-top tool pouch with a removable sling-style shoulder strap and two removable side pouches. This is a closed-top tool bag designed for service technicians, electricians and maintenance pros who need a full hand-tool kit in a bag small enough to carry up a ladder or into a crawl space. Model number SP-MD BLACKOUT (Veto Pro Pac item VPP10975).
The SP-MD is about the same size as the Veto SP-MC, with more depth front to back. That extra depth does two things. It gives the bag a wider footprint, so it stays upright on the floor while you dig through it, and it adds interior capacity. The bag measures 13 inches tall, 13.5 inches wide and 8 inches deep, holds 361 cubic inches (5.9 liters), and is rated for up to 22 pounds of tools. Empty, it weighs 5.2 pounds.
You get into the main compartment through a flap that opens from the top down. When the flap is open, the whole interior faces you: 13 internal pockets for screwdrivers, pliers, meters and small parts. The flap has its own two-way zippered pocket that opens from inside or outside the bag, so small items stay reachable with the bag closed. A padded rear pocket holds a small tablet, test probes or extra tools.
The two side pouches are what set this bag apart. The tool pouch has two main pockets sized for a screwdriver or pliers, a pair of thru-pockets, pencil pockets, a stainless steel tape measure clip and an electrical tape strap. The drill holster fits any drill from 12V to 18V and adds four drill-bit pockets, a stainless steel tape measure clip and an optional lanyard that fastens across the drill. Both pouches have a magnetic flap that secures to a waist belt or trouser pocket, so you can pull them off the bag and wear them while working on a ladder. The lanyard can be removed or pushed down when you don't need it.
Build quality is typical Veto: YKK zippers, a waterproof polypropylene plastic base for moisture and abrasion protection, a hang-up hook for hanging the bag on a rung or truck rack, and a detachable over-molded elastomeric grip.
The bag uses Veto's V-SWAP interchangeable panel system and ships with one Rear 9-Pocket Panel. Additional V-SWAP panels are sold separately and also fit the SP-MC, SB-LD, TP-LD and TP6B, so panels can move between bags if you run more than one Veto.
Buy the SP-MD BLACKOUT if you are an electrician, HVAC tech or service plumber who wants a closed bag that keeps tools protected and dry, carries hands-free, and splits into a belt pouch and drill holster when you go up the ladder. If you prefer an open-top tote with everything visible at once, look at Veto's open-top bags instead.

Pro Tip
Set up the side tool pouch as your ladder kit: the screwdrivers, pliers and tape you reach for most. When you go up, pull the pouch and the drill holster, clip them to your belt, and leave the 5-pound bag on the floor.

Tool Nut's Take
The Veto Pro Pac SP-MD BLACKOUT Is Three Carries in One Tool Pouch
A closed, hands-free service bag that splits into a belt pouch and drill holster when you climb, so you carry only what the task needs.
- Who it's for: Electricians, HVAC techs and service pros doing a lot of ladder and crawl-space work.
- Why it stands out: Two removable side pouches with magnetic belt flaps, the extra depth over the SP-MC, and a waterproof base.
- Worth knowing: It weighs 5.2 pounds empty and the closed top means opening the flap for every tool. If you want everything visible at a glance, an open-top Veto tote is the better choice.
Common Questions
- How is the SP-MD different from the SP-MC? They are about the same size, but the SP-MD is deeper front to back. That makes it more stable when set down and gives it more internal capacity.
- Will my 18V drill fit in the holster? Yes. The removable drill holster fits any size drill from 12V to 18V.
- Can I wear the side pouches on my belt? Yes. The tool pouch and drill holster each have a magnetic flap that secures to a waist belt or trouser pocket.
- Is the bag waterproof? The base is waterproof polypropylene plastic. That protects the bottom of the bag from wet floors and abrasion. The fabric body is not described as waterproof.
