Woodpeckers 641 and 851 Squares Pack the features of Woodpeckers best-selling 1281 into a more "apron-friendly" sizes. You can easily keep either one with you all the time in your shop. Unlike most squares on the market, the 641 and 851 have a one-piece central core which is precisely machined to be within +/- .0085° of 90°...or better. On both sides of that central core, we pin precision-machined cheeks flush with the base and 1/4" back from the inside edge. This forms a shoulder that keeps the square registered to your material without you holding it in place. Whether you're setting up machines, laying out joinery or checking parts as they go together, these squares are the ones you want for every step of your project.

The previously mentioned +/- .0085° accuracy isn't a goal, it's a guarantee for life. If you ever find your square outside that tolerance, Woodpeckers will fix it or replace it for you. To put that angular tolerance into perspective, the far end of the 6 in. blade on the 641 would be out by less than half of the thickness of a human hair at the maximum allowable variance.

The scales on the 641 and 851 are laser engraved to a tolerance of .004 in. total accumlated error over the length of the blade. The oustide scale is idealf or setting tooling heights, and the inside scale gives you a perfect zero reference from the edge of your stock. You have your choice of inch or metric scales.
