Pneumatic Nailers, Staplers, and Air Tools
The best sellers in this air tools collection are pneumatic nailers. Grex leads with 23-gauge pin nailers from 1-3/16 to 2 inches, plus 21, 18, 16, and 15 gauge brad and finish nailers. Makita adds pin, brad, finish, and framing nailers and crown staplers. DeWALT, Bostitch, and a Cadex pin nailer in a Systainer round it out, along with a Makita compressor and nailer combo and a Rolair auxiliary air tank.
What to Look For
- Gauge. A 23-gauge pin leaves a hole that rarely needs filler, ideal for small trim and glue-ups. 18-gauge brads hold light trim. 15 and 16 gauge finish nails hold door casing and baseboard.
- Nail length. Match the nailer's max length to your stock. The Grex P635 tops out at 1-3/8 inches, the P650 at 2 inches.
- Air supply. Small finish nailers run on compact compressors. Framing nailers need more volume.
- Safety features. Grex P650LX models add a dry fire lockout and safety.

Air Tools FAQ
Pin nailer or brad nailer for trim?
Use a 23-gauge pin nailer for small moldings and holding parts while glue sets. The holes barely need filling. Use an 18-gauge brad nailer when the trim needs more holding power, such as casing and small baseboard.
What compressor do I need for a pin nailer?
Pin and brad nailers use little air, so a small portable compressor works. Check the tool's operating pressure and shop compressors that meet it. Framing nailers and continuous-use tools need a larger tank and higher output.
