Bit Holders

Bit Holders, Extensions, and Drive Guides

Bit holders mount insert bits in a drill or impact driver and set how the bit is held. This collection includes Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE locking and magnetic holders, magnetic drive guides, and QUIK-LOK extensions up to 24 inches. Festool adds CENTROTEC holders and a TwinBox with bits, plus a holder for the DWC 18. You will also find DeWALT and Makita Impact XPS holders, a pivot holder and Impact Clutch, a right angle attachment, and carabiner and keyring holders for carrying bits.

What to Look For

  • Impact rating. Use impact rated holders, like SHOCKWAVE, with impact drivers.
  • Locking or magnetic. Locking holders keep bits from pulling out. Magnetic holders swap bits faster.
  • Drive guide. A sliding sleeve keeps long screws straight on starts.
  • Reach and angle. Extensions and the Milwaukee 49-22-8510 right angle attachment get into cabinets and framing bays.

Bit Holders FAQ

Do Festool CENTROTEC holders fit other drills?

CENTROTEC holders are made for Festool's CENTROTEC chuck. Standard 1/4-inch hex holders, like Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE or Makita Impact XPS, fit most other drills and impact drivers.

Why carry a carabiner or keyring bit holder?

It keeps a few common bits on your belt loop or keys, so you are not digging through a case. The Milwaukee 48-32-4537 carabiner holds five bits, and the DeWALT DWAFHLDKC5 and Vega 5QKCH work the same way.
