Cordless Metalworking Tools
Cordless Shears, Nibblers, and Rivet Tools
Cordless metalworking tools cut sheet metal, rod, and tube and set rivets without air lines or cords. Milwaukee covers most of this collection: an M12 FUEL 16 gauge nibbler, M18 double cut shears in 18 and 14 gauge, an M18 single cut shear, M12 and M18 FUEL rivet tools, an M18 threaded rod cutter, and an M12 600 MCM cable cutter. DeWALT adds a 20V MAX XR 3/16 in. rivet tool, a 14ga swivel head double cut shear, and fiber cement shears. Makita offers a 16 gauge straight shear, a 5-7/8" metal cutting saw, and a CXT multi-cutter.
What to Look For
- Cut type. Double cut shears remove a thin strip and leave the sheet flat with little distortion. Nibblers cut curves and tight radii.
- Gauge rating. Each shear and nibbler lists its maximum gauge. Buy for the thickest sheet you cut.
- Rivet size. Check the rivet diameter range and jaw set for the fasteners you use.

Cordless Metalworking Tools FAQ
Shear or nibbler?
Shears make fast straight and gentle curved cuts with clean edges. Nibblers punch out small chips and turn tighter corners, which helps with cutouts in ductwork and panels.
Does this collection include plumbing cutters?
Yes. Milwaukee M12 copper tubing cutters and PVC shears are listed here, since they cut tube and pipe on site.
