Festool hand sanding pads in this collection are Granat abrasive sponges. A sponge bends around mouldings, edges, and curved parts where a flat block or sheet leaves gaps. Coarse grits of 60, 120, and 220 come in 6-packs. Finer grits of 280, 500, 800, 1000, and 1500 come in 20-packs for scuffing between coats and polishing out finishes, and 800 grit is offered in both pack sizes.
What to Look For
- Shaping or finishing. Use 60 to 220 grit for shaping and smoothing wood, and 280 grit and up for work between coats.
- Pack size. The 6-packs suit occasional work. The 20-packs make sense for finish shops that go through sponges daily.
- Surface shape. Sponges follow contours. For flat panels, a sheet on a block cuts flatter.
