Festool Polishing Compound

Festool Polishing Compound and Finish Care

Festool polishing compound is a matched system for cutting and refining paint, clear coat, and solid surfaces with a Rotex sander in rotary mode. This collection has three MPA compounds (MPA 11010, MPA 9010, and MPA 5010), plus MPA F+ Finish Cleaner to strip polish residue and MPA SV+ Sealing Spray to protect the finished surface. Most jobs start with the heavier-cutting compound and finish with the finer one.

What to Look For

  • Starting condition. Deeper sanding marks need the heavier MPA 11010 first. Light haze may only need MPA 5010.
  • Sequence. Wipe the surface with Finish Cleaner between compounds so you can see what is left to remove.
  • Pad. Use a separate polishing pad for each compound to avoid carrying coarse residue into the final pass.
  • Protection. Sealing Spray goes on last, after the surface is clean and dry.

Festool Polishing Compound FAQ

Which Festool sander can polish?

Rotex sanders switch between random orbit and gear-driven rotary motion, and rotary mode is the one used for polishing. Festool also lists a StickFix polishing pad for the RO 150 FEQ in its sander pads.

Do I need the Finish Cleaner and Sealing Spray?

They are optional but useful. Finish Cleaner removes oils and compound film so you can judge the true finish between steps. Sealing Spray adds a protective layer once polishing is done.
