Polishing Pads, Compounds, and Felts
Polishing supplies decide the finish as much as the machine does. This collection is mostly Festool, built for Rotex and Shinex polishers. It includes StickFix polishing pads in 80mm, 125mm, and 150mm sizes, MPA polishing compounds (5000, 5010, 6000, 8000, 9010, and 11010), hard and soft felts, premium sheepskin pads, and honeycomb sponges in orange medium, white fine, and black very fine grades. DeWALT adds a 7" cotton blend pad for rotary polishers.
What to Look For
- Pad size. Match the pad diameter to your machine. Festool lists pads for the RO 90, RO 125, RO 150, and Shinex polishers.
- Pad material. Sheepskin and hard felts cut aggressively, sponges refine the finish, and soft felts suit lacquer and solid surface work.
- Compound. Pair each compound with its recommended pad. Keep one pad per compound to avoid cross-contamination.
- Pack size. Felts and sponges come as singles or 5-packs. Buy multipacks if you polish often.

Sponge, felt, or sheepskin?
Sheepskin and hard felt remove defects fastest. Medium sponges handle general correction, and fine and very fine honeycomb sponges bring up final gloss. A typical job moves from the most aggressive pad that fixes the defect to the finest one.
Will Festool polishing pads fit other polishers?
Festool pads are sized and shaped for Festool backing pads and machines such as Rotex and Shinex. Hook-and-loop pads may fit other backing plates of the same diameter, but check the size before ordering.
