Festool Sanders: Choosing the Right Machine
Festool sanders are built around dust extraction and matched abrasives, and each family has a clear job. ROTEX sanders handle removal, finishing, and polishing in one tool. ETS and ETS EC sanders are dedicated finish sanders. DTS and RTS models reach corners and narrow edges. PLANEX takes on walls and ceilings. The RAS 115, LS 130, and RS 2 E cover heavy removal, profiles, and large panels.

ROTEX Multi-Mode Sanders
The RO 90 DX, RO 125, and RO 150 switch between gear-driven rotation for fast removal and polishing and random orbit for finishing. The RO 90 DX adds a delta pad for corners. Shop ROTEX sanders.
ETS Random Orbit Sanders
The ETS 125 and ETS 150 are classic finish sanders, available in 5-inch and 6-inch sizes. ETS 150/5 and ETS 150/3 refer to the orbit stroke: larger for faster cutting, smaller for finer finishes. Shop ETS sanders.
ETS EC Compact Sanders
The ETS EC 125 and ETS EC 150 use a brushless motor in a low-profile body, which keeps your hand close to the work for better control on long sessions. Shop ETS EC sanders.
DTS and RTS Finish Sanders
The DTS 400 delta sander gets into corners and frames. The RTS 400 rectangular sander handles narrow rails and edges. Abrasives for each are in DTS 400 and RTS 400 collections.
PLANEX Drywall Sanders
PLANEX and PLANEX easy sand walls and ceilings with a long reach and built-in extraction. Some are bundled with a CT 36 AutoClean extractor for fine drywall dust. Shop PLANEX sanders.
Specialty Sanders
The RAS 115 rotary sander strips paint and coatings. The LS 130 linear sander follows profiles and moldings. The RS 2 E half-sheet sander flattens large panels. Discs for the RAS are in RAS 115 abrasives.

Festool Sanders FAQ
ROTEX or ETS: which should I buy first?
Buy a ROTEX if you strip finishes, flatten rough stock, or polish, since one tool covers all three. Buy an ETS or ETS EC if most of your work is finish sanding on already flat surfaces. Many shops own both.
5-inch or 6-inch sander?
A 6-inch (150 mm) pad covers large panels faster. A 5-inch (125 mm) pad is lighter and easier to control on edges and smaller parts. Abrasives differ by size, so pick one size to standardize on if you can.
Do I need a dust extractor with a Festool sander?
Festool sanders are designed to run with a CT dust extractor. It keeps abrasives cutting longer and the air cleaner. A dust bag works for short jobs.
What warranty does Festool offer on sanders?
New Festool sanders bought from an authorized US dealer carry a 3-year limited warranty. Register within 30 days of purchase to add warranty all-inclusive service: free repairs for 3 years, wear parts such as carbon brushes, bearings and seals, and a prepaid shipping label for covered repairs. Abrasives and pads are excluded. Festool also offers a 30-day return or exchange through your dealer.
