Knipex Strippers

Choosing Knipex Wire Strippers

Knipex strippers remove insulation without nicking the conductor. This collection has forged strippers for 20-10 AWG, including a 1000V insulated version, and automatic strippers such as the PreciStrip16 for 6-28 AWG and self-adjusting models for 8-32 AWG. It also covers end-type strippers, coax strippers, a flat cable stripper, ErgoStrip dismantling tools in right- and left-handed versions, the ErgoStrip PV for solar cable, and pliers and shears with a built-in stripping hole.

What to Look For

  • Manual or automatic. Forged strippers are slim and fast for one wire at a time. Automatic strippers grip and strip in one squeeze, which helps on repetitive work.
  • Gauge range. Match the AWG range on the title to the wire you run most, from fine 28 AWG up to 6 AWG.
  • Cable type. Use coax strippers for coax, the flat cable stripper for flat cable, and ErgoStrip tools for sheathed and PV cable.
  • Hand. ErgoStrip comes in right- and left-handed versions.

Knipex Strippers FAQ

Forged stripper or automatic stripper?

A forged stripper like the 13 72 8 also cuts and loops wire, so it doubles as an everyday electrician's tool. An automatic stripper sets itself to the wire and strips with one squeeze, which saves time on control panels and long runs of terminations.

Are Knipex strippers covered by a warranty?

Knipex tools carry a lifetime limited warranty against defects in material or workmanship for the original end-user purchaser. You need proof of purchase and an RGA from Knipex Tools LP. Misuse, alteration, and tools worn out by use are excluded.
