Sander Drums

Drum Sander Abrasive Rolls and Drum Sanding Kits

Sander drums here are mostly replacement abrasive wraps for stationary drum sanders. Jet rolls fit the JWDS-2550 and come three wraps to a box, in 60 through 220 grit. Supermax wraps are sized by drum length, with 16", 19", 25", and 37" options in 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-packs, running from 36 grit up to 220. A Dremel EZ686-01 EZ-Lock kit adds small sanding drums for rotary tools.

What to Look For

  • Drum length. Buy the wrap that matches your machine, such as 25" for a Supermax 25 sander or the Jet rolls made for the JWDS-2550.
  • Grit range. Use 36 to 80 grit for leveling glue-ups and 120 to 220 for final passes before finishing.
  • Pack count. Multi-packs make sense for the grits you run every day. Single wraps fit coarse grits you use less often.
  • Wrap tension. Install each wrap tight and evenly so it does not overlap or loosen during a pass.

Sander Drums FAQ

Do Supermax wraps fit a Jet drum sander?

Check the drum length and the wrap style on your machine. The Jet rolls listed here are labeled for the JWDS-2550. Supermax wraps are listed by drum length, so match that number to your sander before ordering.

Which grit should I start with on a drum sander?

Start with 80 grit on rough or uneven stock, or 36 to 60 grit on glued panels with big steps. Move to 120, then 150 or 180. Take light passes, since a heavy cut can burn the wrap and the wood.
