What is the difference between a dust extractor and a shop vac?
A dust extractor is built to connect to power tools, with fine filtration and steady suction through a long, narrow hose. A shop vac is built for general cleanup and larger debris.
Do I need HEPA filtration?
For drywall, concrete, and fine sanding dust, HEPA is the safer choice. Several models here, from Festool, Milwaukee, Makita, and DeWALT, list HEPA in their name.
Cordless or corded?
Cordless vacs suit quick cleanup and sites without power. Corded extractors run longer and power tool-triggered dust collection. The DeWALT DCV581H runs either way.
