This is a Class E Type 2 hard hat designed for electricians, linemen and utility workers who need protection from both impacts and electrical contact.
Class E is the electrical class, and Klein tests this hat up to 20kV. The shell is non-vented, which is what makes the electrical rating possible: there are no openings for a conductor to reach your head.
It is also Type 2, tested to ANSI Z89.1-2014 (R2019) HT-LT for top, front, back and side impact. That side and front protection matters when you are working in tight spaces, under equipment or around swinging loads. The full brim adds shade and rain protection for the face and neck.
