Key Features
Overview
The Klein Tools Flame-Resistant Summer Set, Full Brim, 48-Piece (FRSUMKIT2) is a nine-worker kit of flame-resistant cooling gear and sun protection built around a full brim sombrero. This is an FR summer kit designed for outdoor utility, electrical and industrial crews who spend long days in high sun.
The full brim sombrero is the difference from Klein's hybrid brim version. It wraps the hard hat with a full brim and adds a removable neck shade, putting shade over the face, ears and back of the neck. Klein lists the full brim sombrero as NFPA 70E CAT 2 rated.
Each of the nine sets also includes an FR cooling vest worn over the clothes, a low-profile FR cooling top pad that integrates with Klein hard hats, and a one-size-fits-most FR cooling sweat band that fits inside Klein hard hats. The vest, top pad and sweat band are a 50% modacrylic, 30% viscose, 18% aramid and 2% antistatic carbon blend meeting ASTM F1506-22 with an ATPV of 11.9 cal.
A 12-pack of broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen lotion handles skin protection against UVA and UVB rays.
The kit weighs 18.2 lb (8.3 kg) and ships in a package about 13-5/8" x 11-5/8" x 20-1/2" (34.5 x 29.5 x 52.1 cm).
Who should buy it: safety directors and crew leaders equipping FR crews for summer, especially teams working in open sun such as line crews, solar installers and pipeline or plant maintenance workers.

Pro Tip
Get the top pads and sweat bands into the hard hats before the first hot week, not during it. Crews adapt better when the cooling gear is already part of the routine when the heat hits.
