Overview
The Klein Tools VDV501-770 Scout Pro Max Network Cable Tester With Remote Set is a cable tester designed for installers who test and troubleshoot RJ11, RJ12, RJ45 and F-connector cabling.
It adds tone tracing, TDR length and fault-distance measurement, custom test-history reports, shielded and unshielded testing, hub blink and active network detection. A backlit color screen shows results, and internal memory stores up to 200 results that can be downloaded.
The tester runs on 3 AA alkaline batteries, with about 15 hours of active life and a one-year standby life. It survives drops of 6.6 ft (2 m), measures 8 in (203 mm) by 4 in (102 mm) by 1.5 in (38 mm) and weighs 0.99 lb (0.4 kg). Length accuracy is plus or minus 2% plus 3 ft (1 m) with a known velocity of propagation and consistent cable parameters.
It suits low-voltage installers, network techs and security integrators who certify and map large cable runs. The tone probe (VDV500-223) is sold separately.
