The Milwaukee 48-11-2420 M12 REDLITHIUM 2.0Ah Compact Battery Pack is a 12V lithium-ion battery pack built for Milwaukee M12 cordless tools. This is a compact lithium-ion power tool battery designed for powering Milwaukee M12 cordless tools. Model Number: 48-11-2420. It is a good fit for users who want a lighter pack for service work, punch-list jobs, overhead tasks, and everyday drilling or fastening where keeping the tool small matters as much as runtime.

At 2.0 amp hours, this battery sits in the sweet spot for compact M12 setups. You get more working time than the smallest packs while keeping the tool easier to handle than a larger extended-capacity battery. Milwaukee also positions this REDLITHIUM battery as an upgrade over standard lithium-ion packs, with longer runtime, more power, and more recharge cycles over the life of the pack.

What matters on the job is how the pack changes the tool in your hand. The compact housing helps smaller M12 drills, impact drivers, inspection tools, and service tools stay maneuverable in tight spots. At about 0.465 lb, it does not load the handle down much, which helps reduce fatigue when you are reaching, climbing, or working one-handed in finished spaces.

Milwaukee builds this battery around REDLINK Intelligence, which is the communication and protection system between the tool, battery, and charger. In practical terms, that means the pack is designed to help manage overload conditions and protect against cell damage. Milwaukee also calls out temperature management and individual cell monitoring to support longer battery life, which is exactly what buyers want from a daily-use battery that will see repeated charge cycles.

This battery is also built for jobsite conditions, not just shop use. Milwaukee states that it delivers fade-free power in extreme conditions and can perform in climates below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. If you work outside, in unheated buildings, or in winter service calls, that kind of cold-weather performance matters a lot more than it does on paper.

Charging times are straightforward. Milwaukee lists about 30 minutes on a Rapid Charger, 30 minutes on a Super Charger, and 43 minutes on a Standard Charger. Charger not included. That makes this a practical spare or replacement battery for anyone already on the M12 platform, especially if you are rotating packs through a charger during the day.

Compatibility is one of the big reasons to buy it. The Milwaukee 48-11-2420 M12 REDLITHIUM 2.0Ah Compact Battery Pack is made for the Milwaukee M12 battery system and is meant to power Milwaukee M12 cordless power tools across the platform. If you already own M12 tools, this is the simple way to add another battery without changing chargers, tools, or storage.

Who should buy it? This pack makes the most sense for contractors, maintenance techs, electricians, HVAC techs, plumbers, and serious DIY users who already run M12 tools and want a compact everyday battery. If you want maximum runtime for high-draw tools, you may step up to a larger pack. If you want the lightest useful battery for general use, this one is the practical choice.
