Sanding Sheets
Sanding Sheets for Sheet Sanders and Hand Sanding
Sanding sheets fit square-pad sanders, sanding blocks, and hand work. Diablo leads this collection with 1/4-sheet 6-packs from 40 to 220 grit, 12" x 18" sheets with StickFast backing from 20 to 120 grit, and reusable 9" x 11" SandNET mesh. Festool Granat sheets come in 10-packs from 80 to 220 grit, plus STF 46 x 178 mm strips. Milwaukee mesh sheets fit the M12 FUEL orbital detail sander, and DeWALT offers mesh 1/4 sheets.
What to Look For
- Sheet size. Match the sheet to the pad: 1/4 sheet for palm sanders, larger sheets to cut down for blocks or long boards.
- Paper or mesh. Mesh sheets load up less and pull dust through the whole surface. Paper sheets are the low-cost standard.
- Backing. StickFast and hook-backed sheets attach without clamps. Plain sheets need a clamp-style sander or a block.
- Grit steps. Work up through the grits in small steps so each one removes the scratches from the last.

Sanding Sheets FAQ
Can I use sanding sheets on a random orbit sander?
Not directly. Random orbit sanders take round discs that match their pad. Sanding sheets suit sheet sanders, detail sanders with matching pads, and hand blocks. See hook and loop discs for round pads.
What does reusable SandNET mean?
Diablo SandNET is a mesh sheet that can be cleaned and used again. The open mesh lets dust pass through, so it clogs less than paper on finish work.
