Head Protection

Head Protection for Every Season on the Job

Head protection covers more than a hard shell. Alongside Milwaukee and Klein hard hats and Milwaukee BOLT visors and face shields, this collection holds the layers that make a full day under a helmet bearable. For heat, there are BOLT cooling liners, a cooling skull cap, cooling sweat bands, a WORKSKIN warm weather hard hat liner, and Milwaukee and Klein cooling PVA towels. For cold, there are beanies, neck gaiters, and a Klein windproof hinged balaclava. Milwaukee and Tool Nut caps round it out.

What to Look For

  • Protection first. Only hard hats and safety helmets give impact protection. Liners, caps, and gaiters add comfort.
  • Cooling. Liners and sweat bands fit inside the shell, while PVA towels drape around the neck.
  • Cold weather. Choose thin layers like a balaclava or gaiter that do not lift the shell off the suspension.
  • Face and eyes. BOLT eye visors and full face shields mount to compatible Milwaukee helmets and hard hats.

Shop head protection at The Tool Nut, an authorized dealer since 1994, with free shipping on most orders and rewards points on every purchase.

Head Protection FAQ

How do I stay cool under a hard hat?

Swap the standard sweat band for a cooling sweat band, add a cooling liner or skull cap under the shell, and keep a wet PVA towel on your neck. These pieces work together, so you can start with one and add more for hotter sites.

Can I wear something under my hard hat in winter?

Yes, but keep it thin. A balaclava, gaiter, or thin liner keeps the suspension seated where it belongs. Check your hard hat maker's guidance before wearing anything bulky under the shell.
