Powermate Generators

Powermate Portable and Inverter Generators

Powermate generators in this collection range from the 1,200-watt PM1200i inverter to the 9,400-watt PM9400E. Inverter models (PM1200i, PM2000i, and PM3000i) suit campsites, tailgates, and sensitive electronics. Open-frame portables (PM2000, PM3800, PM4500, PM7500, and PM9400E) power jobsite tools and home backup. Several come in CARB Certified and 49-state versions, with manual or electric start, and COsense versions of the PM4500 and PM7500. Powermate 1800 and 2100 PSI electric pressure washers also appear here.

What to Look For

  • Wattage. Add up the running watts of everything you plan to power, then leave headroom for motor start-up surges.
  • Inverter or open frame. Inverters run quieter and suit electronics. Open-frame generators give more watts for the money.
  • CARB or 49-state. California buyers need a CARB Certified model. 49ST and Non-CARB versions ship to other states.
  • Start type. Electric start models such as the PM4500E and PM9400E start with a switch instead of a recoil pull.

Powermate Generators FAQ

What does CARB Certified mean?

CARB Certified models meet California Air Resources Board emissions standards and can be sold in California. Models labeled 49ST or Non-CARB are for the other 49 states. Powermate offers several sizes both ways, so pick the version that matches where you live.

What is a COsense generator?

COsense is a Powermate carbon monoxide sensing feature built into some portable models, including versions of the PM4500 and PM7500. Always run any generator outdoors, away from doors, windows, and vents, whether or not it has CO sensing.
