PoziDrive Driver Bits

Choosing PoziDrive Driver Bits

PoziDrive bits fit Pozidriv screws, which look like Phillips but add four small ribs between the main slots. The tighter fit resists cam-out and is common in European cabinet hardware, Festool assembly, and imported fasteners. Festool leads this collection with 25mm bits in 10-packs and HiQ 3-packs, plus CENTROTEC bits in 2" and 100mm lengths. Bosch Extra Hard PZ1, PZ2, and PZ3 bits, Wiha impact Power Bits and a PoziDriv Power Blades set, Wera 855/0 micro bits, and a DeWALT 3-piece set round it out.

What to Look For

  • Size. PZ2 fits most wood and cabinet screws. PZ1 suits small hardware, PZ3 larger screws, and PZ0 electronics and fine fittings.
  • Shank system. Festool CENTROTEC bits snap into the CENTROTEC chuck on Festool drills. Standard 1/4" hex bits fit any driver.
  • Length. 25mm and 1" insert bits sit in a bit holder. 2" and 100mm bits reach recessed screws.
  • Impact use. Choose impact-rated bits such as the Wiha Impact Power Bits when driving with an impact driver.

PoziDrive Driver Bits FAQ

Can I use a Phillips bit on a Pozidriv screw?

It will turn the screw, but poorly. A Phillips bit has tapered flanks and does not seat in the extra ribs, so it slips out under torque and damages the recess. Use the matching PZ size for clean, full-torque driving.

How do I tell a Pozidriv screw from a Phillips?

Look at the head. Pozidriv screws have four small lines stamped at 45 degrees between the main cross slots. Phillips screws have a plain cross. Hardware from European cabinet and furniture makers often uses Pozidriv.
