Subaru Generators: Inverter, Portable, and Diesel

Despite the name, every product in the Subaru Industrial Power Products collection is a generator. There are eight models. The RG3200iSE and RG4300iSE are inverter generators rated at 2,800 and 3,800 watts. The SGX3500, SGX5000, and SGX7500E are conventional portable units from 3,500 to 7,500 watts. The RGV12100 and RGV13100T are larger 12,000 and 10,000-watt electric start generators, and the RGD3300H is a 3,000-watt diesel model.

What to Look For

  • Wattage. Add up the running watts of everything you will power at once, then allow headroom for motor starting loads.
  • Inverter or conventional. Inverter models produce cleaner power for electronics and run quieter at light loads.
  • Starting. Models marked electric start skip the pull cord.
  • Fuel. The RGD3300H runs on diesel for crews that already fuel diesel equipment.

Subaru Generators FAQ

Which Subaru generator is right for job site tools?

For a few corded tools and lights, the SGX3500 or SGX5000 is a practical size. If you run a compressor, table saw, and lights together, step up to the SGX7500E or an RGV model. Check each tool's amp or watt rating first.

When does an inverter generator make sense?

Choose the RG3200iSE or RG4300iSE when you power laptops, chargers, or other sensitive electronics, or when noise matters at a campsite or residential job. For heavy motor loads, a larger conventional unit gives more output.
